Shoba Murali
President and Chief Executive Officer

Shoba Murali is a cofounder of The UCAN Company which is devoted to the development and commercialization of a highly desirable unique ingredient that has an extended glucose profile with muted insulin response and increased fat oxidation. She helped launch the company, led the financing effort and shaped the overall manufacturing, formulation, clinical trials and marketing strategy of UCAN. The company now markets glucose sustaining consumer-based nutritional products very relevant in sports nutrition and weight management. Previously, Ms. Murali was the President and Co-founder of Acorn Information Services and led the company from inception to IPO. Acorn was involved in both customer relationship and database management for businesses around the world. Her early career was shaped by product and program management and business development roles in companies like Digital Equipment Corporation and Tata Services. Ms. Murali holds a masters in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Osmania University, India.

Dr. William Fodor, Ph.D.
Acting Chief Science Officer

William Fodor has over 20 years of research, management, training and consulting experience in academia and the biotechnology industry. He received a BS in Genetics and a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Ohio State University. He completed post-doctoral training at Biogen and at the Yale School of Medicine in molecular immunology. Dr. Fodor was a founding scientist at Alexion Pharmaceuticals and a member of the executive management team where he directed a tissue engineering and transgenic animal program. He went on to become an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut in the Molecular Cell Biology Department and the Center for Regenerative Biology. Just prior to joining Glygenix, Dr. Fodor was the Senior Director of Product Development at ViaCell Inc., where he managed both internal and external research programs in stem cell therapeutics. He was also responsible for directing both the Process Development and Clinical Manufacturing groups.

David Feldman, DMD.
Chief Operating Officer

David Feldman is a co-founder of The UCAN Company and is currently a member of its Board of Directors. The UCAN Company is a nutraceutical company involved in optimizing energy balance with unique consumer nutritional products for use in many fields, including sports nutrition and weight management. He also co-founded GlyGenix Therapeutics and currently serves as its Chief Operating Officer. He continues to be active in growing all aspects of the business since its inception in 2006. Dr. Feldman's involvement with biotechnology stems from the 2001 diagnosis of his oldest son with Glycogen Storage Disease Type 1a. In 2002, Dr. Feldman and his wife, Dr. Wendy Becker, founded The Children's Fund for GSD Research to help find a cure for GSD1. The Children's Fund is the leading foundation in the world for GSD1 research. Dr. Feldman received his BA from Colgate University, a DMD from the University Of Connecticut School Of Dental Medicine and a Certificate of Orthodontics from SUNY Stony Brook.

Ramesh Ratan
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Ratan has over thirty years experience in a large fortune 500 company and high technology and development stage organizations. He has been a CFO for both private and public companies and has a strong track record in finance, corporate communications, strategic planning, corporate development, acquisitions and operations. He was CFO at Xcellerex Inc from 2004 to 2007 and was Senior Vice President Administration and Chief Financial Officer at Enanta Pharmaceuticals from 2001 to 2003. He was Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer at Equinox Solutions, Inc., from 1997 to 2001. From 1995-1997, Mr. Ratan held the position of Executive Vice President of Business Development and Chief Financial Officer at American Superconductor Corporation. Prior to his position at American Superconductor Corporation, Mr. Ratan was Senior Vice President of Administration and Chief Financial Officer at Repligen Corporation from 1986 - 1994. His experience includes ten years with Bristol-Myers in Industrial Engineering, Cost Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis. Mr. Ratan earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Gwalior, India.
